The City of Corpus Christi shall verify with the Texas Department of Public Safety the driving record of the finalists for all positions with essential functions, which require a driver's license. Any applicant will be disqualified from consideration of initial employment, or promotion to any position with the City of Corpus Christi, which requires driving City vehicles, if he/she has any of the following.

  1. A total of two or more moving violations and/or accidents on his/her Texas DPS Motor Vehicle Driver's Record within one year of the date of his/her application, or a total of three or more moving violations and/or accidents in three years; and/or;
  2. A Driving while Intoxicated (DWI) conviction within three years of the date of his/her application.

UPON INITIAL APPOINTMENT, THE PAY LEVEL WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH ARTICLE III EMPLOYEE CLASSIFICATION AND COMPENSATION SYSTEM OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI CODE OF ORDINANCES; CHAPTER 39, PERSONNEL.

All Employees of the City of Corpus Christi hold essential services positions and, as part of the City's Emergency Response Team, provide services in the course and scope of their employment for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations that threaten the safety of Corpus Christi's citizens. All City employees may be required to work immediately before, during, or immediately after an emergency or disaster as required of the circumstances, unless a waiver is requested and approved.
